What Are the Parts of Your Brake System?
Everyone knows about the pads and rotors because they're the most oft-discussed parts in the braking system, but other components play an integral role.
- Master Cylinder: Provides the power to the braking system.
- Brake Lines: Transport fluid to the other components so they can do their job effectively.
- Brake Caliper: House mechanical components of your braking system.
- Brake Pads: Provide a grip on the rotors so you can stop.
- Brake Rotors: Are connected to the wheels and stop them from spinning.
How to Detect Wear
Seeing wear on your brakes is hard. During a tire rotation or changeover, our technicians can check to see how your brake pads and rotors fare, and we'll alert you if your Lincoln Nautilus needs a replacement.
When Should You Replace Brakes?
Generally, a new set of brakes on your Lincoln Navigator can last from three to seven years, depending on your driving style, but always be on alert for signs of excess wear. When your brakes grind or squeal when you apply them, it's time to schedule an appointment with us. You never want to take a chance with brakes, so if your Lincoln Corsair pulls to one side as you brake, we're ready to get you onto our schedule to take a look.
